In 2022, Green Foundation Nepal partnered with indigenous communities in the Chure region to launch an ambitious forest restoration project. Over 18 months, community members planted over 100,000 native tree species across 500 hectares of degraded land. The project employed sustainable agroforestry techniques, combining timber species with fruit trees and medicinal plants. Today, the restored forest not only sequesters carbon and protects watersheds but also provides sustainable income through non-timber forest products. The 150 participating families have seen their annual income increase by an average of 40%, while biodiversity has returned to the area with sightings of previously absent bird and animal species.
